How to read this result

The rounded result is the number of whole pavers after your chosen waste allowance. Convert it to pallets or layers using the supplier's packaging information.

What this calculator does

Paver quantity is an area-to-piece calculation. The tool converts each paver's face dimensions from inches to square feet, divides the project area by that coverage and then applies your waste allowance before rounding to whole pieces.

What to know before you use the result

  • Use the actual face dimensions that contribute to coverage.
  • Patterns, cuts and border layouts can materially change waste.
  • Pavers sold by pallet or layer still need to be rounded to the supplier's package quantity.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Mixing inches and feet when calculating paver area.
  • Ignoring border or soldier-course pieces that use a different layout.
  • Rounding before the waste allowance is applied.

Quick answers

About the pavers calculation.

How many pavers do I need per square foot?

Divide one square foot by the face area of one paver in square feet. The calculator does this automatically from paver dimensions.

How much waste should I add?

The right allowance depends on pattern, cuts, breakage and project shape. More complex layouts usually need more extra pieces.

Does this include joint spacing?

No. It uses the paver face dimensions you enter. Manufacturer layout guidance may use nominal dimensions that account for joints.
